Google has the uncanny ability to develop things every single day that I have never thought of previously, but I find extremely useful. On most sites I usually run into things that I think…why can’t I do ‘x’ or why does this behave this way? However, Google seems to steer clear of this and go beyond with things that make me think, jeeze I didn’t even know I wanted that. The latest of which was back in their original application: Search.

There is a great new iPhone application out there for all of you slicksters packin an iPhone on your hip.  The iPhone Gratitude Journal (as advertised up in the top left corner) is an application created by Carla over at CarlaKayWhite.com.

I haven’t been able to personally try this out, due to the fact I don’t have an iPhone.  (I think Lisa might get one soon, but I’m holding out for a good Android powered phone)  However, the 26 reviews since Dec 9th, the list of features and the screen captures all point to the fact that this is a great iPhone app.  Oh yeah, and it’s already #3 on the list of lifestyles applications.

So for all of you iPhone users, be sure to check this out and if you think it looks interesting, it’s only $0.99 with 10% of profits being donated to charity.

Alright, so here’s the deal. For work, I am building out this site for a bigger agency on the coast. They are a little more developed in their processes and work with some fairly large accounts. As part of those more developed processes they ship all of their html/css work out to another agency that specializes in doing only that.  However, this specialized company did something that threw me off…

A couple of my friends from college recruited me for a great project in February.  It is a volunteer project that takes 10 non-profits who’s entries have been accepted to have their sites redone and places them in the hands of 10 groups of 10 volunteers who will take either their original site or just initial idea and deliver them a brand new site in 24 hours flat.

I originally had not heard of this before but as soon as I heard about it, I was excited.  To me it sounded like a great way to not only help some non-profits but also do a little networking while reminding me of the college days, pulling the all nighters.

Granted, we’ll need to be setting up some standard templates to build off of before the 24 hour time period starts, but the real heart of what is created will all be done in one day.  I’m looking forward to seeing how everyone works under all of the pressure.  I’m fairly confident in my ability to handle it as in a normal month here at Blend we’ll usually end up dealing with almost as unrealistic of timelines as these.

If you would like more information on this, be sure to check out their website here.
