Here’s a nice little summary from Deane about the Kwame Kilpatrick legacy.

Make sure you keep this in mind the next time you go out to cast your vote!  (this being just one of hundreds of these cases)  Maybe then you’ll think twice before looking condescendingly on someone who chooses not to be an enabler for people involved in this system.  Sometimes an extremely corrupt system just needs to be rebuilt from scratch.

Hang with me, this post gets long and winding, but I think it’s worth it.

I posted yesterday how I was reading the book Freakonomics and how it reminded me of the the true meaning of the internet.  On a bit more sinister note, a line in this book reminded me of something else.  During the energy crisis when Enron was manipulating the energy market to rake in huge profits, there was a tape made of two traders working for Enron talking about the wildfires in California and how they were going to help them jack of the prices of energy….they were quoted saying “Burn Baby, Burn”.  Now this was the second time that I heard about this in just a couple short weeks…

It’s a sad but true fact, if you’re rich, you matter in this society.  If you’re poor…well, best of luck to you!  I ran across this article on business week the other day.  Now, this writer tries his best to convince you that, no Social Security isn’t the same as the Ponzi Scheme, but I am having a hard time following that logic.
